Letter from the Principal, Ms. Valerie L. Reed
“Coming together is a beginning….keeping together is progress….working together is success.” Author Henry Ford
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child(ren) to the start of another school year at East Elementary! The beginning of the school year is always full of anticipation, excitement and planning as our staff work together and prepare for the education of our students. Your child(ren) are blessed to be among the most energetic, astonishing, loyal, accomplished, remarkable and first class staff in the world. At East Elementary, we aim to focus on academics as well as:
- Create an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
- Take many opportunities to celebrate students’ successes so that every student is recognized for his/her growth and progress.
- Create an understanding among our students and parents that they are active participants in the education and learning that takes place at East Elementary.
I believe your child’s best chance for success is made possible through learning partnerships. It is critically important that faculty/staff, students, and parents work together to ensure our children’s success and safety. Consistent communication between home and school is essential to promote the best interests of your child.
I hope you will take part in your child’s education by inquiring about their time spent at school. Ask about their friends and teachers. Get involved as they complete their homework or seek your help on special projects. Encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes every night. I am confident that your child will demonstrate greater motivation as you continue to show interest in their academic and social experiences. We will certainly work on our end to provide your child with the best education possible. Let’s work together to make this an excellent school year in every way.
